Let’s start with three big words that play an important role in each and every person’s life.

Worrying. Anxiety. Overthinking.

Do you know how many of us share similar qualities because of these three words? Let me just put this out there, when you think you’re the only one experiencing it, you’re not. You are far from being alone, this is just a topic that most don’t speak about.

When you worry, do you know what tags along for the ride? Distraction. When you’re distracted, you can’t sit and be present in the moment. You can hardly even think straight, even if you’re hanging out with people who distract you from your thoughts.. the worries are still sitting on your shoulders. Where there is worry, there is distraction and you can’t sit in the moment and be present.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matthew 6:25.

I bet you didn’t know that most of the time when we worry, we overthink and its often about things that won’t even happen. It about things either far in the future or about things we are trying to control. Jesus told us not to worry about the future.

Take a minute to stop reading and look around. I’m not sure where you may be while you’re reading this, but look closely. Look at the people around you. Look at the sky and the birds that are flying above. Look at the flowers. Listen to the soft breeze blowing around you. Just take a minute.

Look at all the things He has made. Look at the things that already exist rather than the situations and obstacles that you are making up in your head. Do you know what word can match those situations that you are imagining? Nonexistent.

What I have learned is that worrying cause us to miss the work that Jesus is doing in our lives. Rather than helping ourselves by worrying, we are losing ourselves. “Trust in me, and I will make your paths straight,” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Let me just ask you something. When was a time that you didn’t make it through something? When was a time that you thought something was going to break you? You’re still here. You made it through. God is still and has always been using you.

Here’s some advice I have to you. Rather than worrying, why don’t you try and depend on someone who has brought you through every battle you thought you were going to lose. Have hope my dear friend because the Almighty one sees you as a winner in His eyes.

Worrying does nothing but guide you away from the promises that God has always had in store for you!

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own,” Matthew 6:34.
